Fire-rated downlights are ceiling light fixtures designed to maintain the fire resistance of a ceiling. In the event of a fire, these downlights help prevent the spread of flames by sealing off the hole cut in the ceiling for the light, typically for up to 30, 60 & 90 minutes. They are commonly used in residential and commercial buildings where fire safety regulations require fire-rated barriers between floors.
